Restoration
Our clients wanted to restore their 1920’s manor style Long Island residence and landscape to its original sophistication and grandeur, while satisfying the needs of their modern lifestyle. To that end, design elements evoking this time period were implemented. The original formal courtyard layout was incorporated into the design by setting a boxwood knot garden on its axis along the formal living room doors, providing the view of a grand vista from within. A stairway brought the homeowner down to pool level and created an overlook that interfaced with the lower pool terrace.
Terraces were constructed with all the cooking amenities (built-in outdoor grill and sink) and the large open lawn provided ample room for their children (and guests) to play. The gardens were landscaped with a choice of evergreen and flowering trees. Shrubs and perennials were supplemented by annuals which provide the varied colors that heighten enjoyment throughout the seasons.
